My oscar has HITH, a fish keeper nearby suggested not medicating the
tank and only soaking metrozol in food. i started that, first 3 days
the oscar (unnamed after 4 months), would nibble, then spit out food.
so i guess he got no meds. but last night he started accepting
treated food. any thoughts on this method of treatment, or how long
it may take at this much slower ingestion of medicine? thanks

Do frequent water changes and feed less as well, if necessary. HITH is
a result of dirty water. Some nitrate test kits read way, way too low
and are a poor guide for doing water changes.
