anyone got any ideas for tankmates for a picasso trigger
He didnt used to pick on the damsels at all: then one day he
decided they were lunch and attacked and killed four of them one blue
devil, one yellowtail, and two green chromis. all killed in one day.
strangly he left the clown fish which was smaller than the blue devil and a
humbug damsel which is only small.
I have a 120 gal fish only tank so dont want anything too large

triggers are meat eaters mostly so I don't see the relevance to the algae
you mention with the exception of shrimp and other critters that may live in
the midst of the algae's which the triggers love to eat. if a trigger is
kept in a tank it has to be feed something that will keep his teeth ground
down. the purple urchins never lasted with the one I had for very long
before it became lunch. the also chew on the LR I cant say if they are
doing it as a means of nutrition or just to keep the teeth in check. but if
placed in a tank with nothing to chew on and not feed anything to help with
the teeth growth, they will grow together (like a rodents will) and it will
die of starvation then.

Just a little PFYI about picasso trigger/humu humu's... When I've seen
them in Hawaii and Fiji they were usually in 5-10 feet deep, cloudy
lagoon water with lots of algae around and not alot of water movement,
and in Fiji this is also where there was the most goniopora growing but
few other corals.
