Just wondering about something, about what fish get along with others
I have
---------------------------
in a 29 high a huge goldfish & Blue Gourami (came together out of nessisty
and they have been there now for a long time get along together fine, i just
keep the temp in the middle)
----------------------------
in a 10 gl with a divider (because of nipping) i have guppies, males on one
said /females and young guppies on the other all together now i have about
12 guppies/ also 2 african dwarf frogs
--------------------------------------------
got two bettas the other day, noticed they had ick when i got home, i have
them in a 5 gl with a solid divider in the middle so they can not see one
another, they will be in there until ick is gone. it has a filter and
heater.
-------------------------------------
also have a 55gl that is set up that i am not using right now due to buying
sone fish with ick i would rather not move anyone until i know all disease
is gone, to much to deal with in a 55gl

ok now my question, i thought about getting another 5gl and putting each
betta in a 5gl but i would like to put them with other fish but i dont know
if they would get along with, i could put a divider in the ten and put them
in there and put guppies in the 55gl, also being the Blue Gourami and
goldfish are so big now i am guessing i could not put them with any othe
fish i dont know, i dont want to put them in the 55 alone, just trying to
figure out what to do, got some time until i am done dealing with ick and
fungus, which is comming alone i guess ok, have not lost no fish in days.
also, the first day i got the bettas i got a plastic solid blue divider
somehow the one knew there was another betta on the other side because he
jumped over (a big jump) and they fought so in the morning i found them each
in a corner i put other one back, they are both missing some finns they dont
look great i dont think they are missing enough to hurt them but i am
worried about infection, should i treat for infections since they all ready
have ick, or just wait and see.

I'm confused by your post and I can't make sense of what fish are where
(sorry). But here's what I know. Obviously you know that two male
fighters can't go together (you should get a lid, because they can jump
over the dividers). Also, since Gourami's are from the same family as
bettas, they don't get along, so you should keep them together either.

>From what you've said, I understand that the goldfish and the gourami
must stay together as that's how you got them and they are buddies?
Well, goldfish are cold water fish and gourami's are tropical fish
requiring warmer water. So these fish don't really go together either,
but I've done it before, if they seem to get along ok, and none of them
gets unhealthy then I suppose you can continue to experiment with them
- in the end my goldfish went nuts and ate all the tropicals.

As for guppies - seems like a waste of a tank to put them in the 55gal!
You could take some to the pet store and see if you could trade them
in for some more compatible fish so you can put them all in the 55gal,
and just have the fighters in the smaller tanks as side features.

I have each tank separated with a line and which fish are in that tank below
Ok I do have a lid on the betta tank, I made a "T" divider, because they
looked as if they had got in a fight before I got them.
Well as of last night I found out I have to empty my 55gl, my husbands
friend moved into a smaller place and he has a 120 gl, which we are trading,
so now I have a bigger tank to take care of, I guess bigger is always better
with men, I could have lived with out a tank that will take half of my
dining room space. But I think you got what I was asking, I am putting the
guppies in the big tank because I would be able to put other community fish
in there with them, I don't know if I could do that with any of the others.
Yes I know about the goldfish and gwamie, I try to just keep the heat in the
middle of what they both like, but they seem to get a long, and are buddies
now, the gold fish is twice the size of the gwamie, I had got the goldfish
as a feeder when I had black pacu's, my six year old son dipped him out of
the tank and saved him in the nick of time, go figure, the gwamie was his so
he put the gold fish in his tank and being both fish were babies I guess
they just got along, but I don't know if that gold fish was a feeder after
all, I never seen one get so big
hay thanks
Nikki
I wonder how much harder it is to take care of a 120 gl, maybe I wont put
guppies in it, maybe ill just start a new tank with new fish
