i have a wet dry filter with the built in skimmer, by clear aquatics i
believe and in the recent move i lost the blue cap to the skimmer, will that
hurt its performance?

by the way, a 55 gal with 5 inches of wet sand is HELLA HEAVY and not fun
getting it into a basement.

the cap helps keep the skimmet in the cut.........without it the foam (when
its dry) will push its way up and over the top, and out on the floor or back
in the sump if its able. you can put anything on it that will cover
(plastic lid from a mayo jar) as long as it has a vent hole.

Give Aqua Clear a call. I'm sure they can send you a cap.

Matt, I'd make a new cap, to help the foam fall into the sides of the collection
cup. It deflects the foam somewhat.
