I have a 55g tank that I've had for a little over a year. I've never had
a problem with any of the fish until recently.
First I noticed my 3 goldfish and my 2 black mollies started acting like
they were sick .They would sit at the bottom of the tank and not even move
untile I put food in. Then I noticed my gouramis were pecking at them. Both
black mollies died two days later. Then one of the goldfish died a week later
Now my last two goldfish just sit on the bottom of the tank and the
gouramis will not leave them alone.
I have noticed the goldfish have somthing green all over them and I've
read that gouramis eat the slime off of other fish. If that is the case, how
do I get rid of the stuff that is making the goldfish sick.
Someone please help me. If it is somthing that can spread I would like to
stop it now.

First off I would never mix tropical fish with coldwater fish... Goldfish put
out a LOT of waste into the aquarium and that could be killing your
tropicals... and they can pick up things from your tropicals that they are not
used to having in the warmer water environment.

What temperature do you keep the tank at?

Green sounds like it could be a fungus ... I have had good luck with the Jungle
tank-buddies... Youc an use them interchangably... I would remove all
filtration and dose the reccomended dose of the tank buddy for both fungus and
parasites. I keep a 10 gallon quarntine tank set up and when I buy new fish I
always treat for parasites and fungus for two weeks before I add them to my 80
gallon tank.

The only problem I have ever had is with algae.

I would also get a dose of aquarium pennecillin and dose that with the fungus
and the parasite cures.

Allen

A few questions . . .

1. How many & what kind of fish do you have?

2. How often do you do a partial water change?

3. Is your water from a city source or from a well?

4. is your aquarium in direct sunlight or near a heater.
