Hello,

I was wondering if you guys could recommend a probe or meter which tests the
water for the following:

- Nitrite
- Nitrate
- Ammonia
- PH

Any ideas? I hate these damn test kits!!!

Thanks for any help! I am in the UK.

Regards,

Gary.

Try www.hach.com, www.lamotte.com, and www.hannainst.com
and look for multi-parameter colorimeters. They are not cheap,
around $400 to $800, depending on features and the number of
tests they can do. But, once bought, the cost per individual test
is usually quite a bit lower than with test kits, and a colorimeter
gives more accurate results.

Cheers,

Michi.

You can buy the SeaChem - Ammonia Alert device for less than £8.

http://www.seachem.com/products/product_pages/AmmoniaAlert.html

I've seen it on sale in one UK web sites.
Just ask if they stock SeaChem products.
I've yet to see a cheap Nitrite device though.

I agree a good monitor is the way to go. Calibrate and for a month or so
you get a digital display of the water parameter with no fuss. Be prepared
to spend some cash though. And these do require maintenance calibration,
cleaning, etc. I use the American Marine Pinpoint PH controller and I love
it.

pH is common but Nitrite, Nitrate, and Ammonia I have not seen.

try some of these

I did find Phosphate, Nitrate, and Ammonia meters at this site but it
doesn't look like they are intended for the hobbyist. I guess it depends on
how much you hate those test kits Smile
