I have a UV sterlizer that I bought about 6 months ago. It is a 9 watt Fouble
Hex made by Custom Sea Life. Yesterday I noticed that the bulb appears to have
blown out. I went to their web site to see about a replacement and found out
that they closed shop. This is my first UVS so I needed to know....Is the bulb
replaceable and if so, where can I get one?

Is it common for the bulb to go after only 6 months???

It's not common for the bulb to burn out after only six months, but it is
common for UV bulbs to suffer a significant loss in effectiveness after six
months--they should be changed every six to eight months anyway.

Check your ballast.

With a conventional ballast, you will get around 8000 hours of use out
of the tube (such as a G15T8). With an electronic ballast, you get
12000 hours out of the same tube. That works out to ~11 months and
~16 months, respectively (for 24x7 operation).

Cheers,

Michi.
