Hi,

I've just moved house and I'm ready to restart my Juwel 180.

The juwel has a heater filter tower in the corner which now has
unsightly dried algae in the gap between the tower and glass. Anyone
dealt with similar without having to re glue the tower ?

Also, the glass generally has traces of dried algie and limescale
which are proving difficult to remove with a cloth and water. Anyone
know of a safe fish friendly method of cleaning the glass prior to
adding gravel, plants and water and beginning cycling ?

Calcium and Lime remover sold in grocery stores or even white vinegar
or lemon juice. The calcium and lime and rust remover is safe to use,
if you rinse the tank well after use, its just fine....

I've used Lime-Away for years. CLR also works well. Rinse afterward.

On glass (do not do this on acrylic), you can use a razor blade (for
use in scrapers, etc).
The glass must be wet, so don't try this on a dry tank.
Even a soaked paper towel would be fine, as long as you keep the area
being scraped wet.
The limescale easily comes off, as well as any traces of dried algae.
For heavy limecale, vinegar will not work. You'll be soaking and
scrubbing till the end of time. One swoop with a razor blade and it's
gone instantly.
No scrubbing, and no stinky vinegar smell.
I use lime remover (for househould cleaning) on acrylic tanks that I
can't use a razor blade on.
When using this harsh, toxic chemical in a tank, *very* much care
needs to be taken in order to remove any residue.
Just like when using bleach, when using a limescale remover chemical,
a lot of extra rinsing is required.

Have you tried Baam?
It works a lot better than Lime away (since they changed their product
and it doesn't work as good as it used to).
Baam is pretty cheap too. It also doesn't burn my skin like Lime-Away
does.
CLR, the last time I used it when the store was out of Lime-Away, and
before they came out with Baam....didn't seem to touch my hard water
deposits (liquid rock for water).

No I haven't. I haven heard of it but will certainly look for it the next
time I'm at Wally World. Someone told me if you put a very thin coat of
Vaseline on things like reflectors and filters the minerals wont stick. I'm
afraid that may harm delicate fish so haven't tried it. Have you heard of
it?

Roy,
You're too stupid realize you contradicted yourself.
The "Item" you're talking about is a glass tank. I was telling him to
use a razor blade on a glass only tank, not acrylic.
You rushed into posting your lies and nonsense and made yourself
sound
completely stupid.
Thank you! = )

You really must be threatened by me.
You can't stand it that you weren't able to run me off, and now it's
made you completely nuts.
You are trying everything you can, but you can't seem to do it can
you.
Still, you try. Sad as it is, you keep trying.
However, this is where your stupidity, and ignorance ruin everything
for you.
You're doing the same things that you've already tried. Most of them
more than once already.
You're saying the same things, repeatedly and they don't work.
How stupid can you be?
How many times are you going to keep banging your head a brick wall
thinking you're going to do anything?
I mean, some of these things you're trying you've already tried like 3
times!!!!
Geez man! Could you possibly be THAT MUCH OF A MORON??

Tynk, if you don't quit responding to Roy, you're no better than he is.
You're just pouring gasoline on the fire. Ignore the idiot.
