Sounds like maybe a bacterial infection. Have you tried adding salt to the
water? Unfortunately, I don't know alot about guppies yet, but I know it's
1 tbsp/gallon for goldfish, but I think they can tolerate more salt than a
guppy. Maybe try adding 1 teaspoon per 5 gallons, but add it slow. Measure
and mix, and then add in 3 doses every 12 hours. Keep your water cleaned
out. Personally, I would do a large water change of about 80% right away
and then add the salt - use aquarium salt, or non-iodized salt (I use
pickling salt, called course salt), and dissolve it in aquarium water first.
Unfortunately, this list isn't very active. I saw your post yesterday, but
thought someone else more knowledgeable would answer you. Sorry to hear
about your loss, and I hope this will help save the others. I have had
bacteria infections in my GF, but not in the guppies. In my case, it turned
out my filter wasn't big enough. Once I discovered this and put in a good
one, plus water changes and added salt, my gf was cleared up in a few days.
If you need to, try the tropical fish newsgroup list...
alt.aquaria.tropical.fish.hobbist. It is alot more active than this one.
Again, I apologise. I wish I had responded yesterday. Maybe we could have
saved your 2 fish. Good luck with the rest.
