No- the microbial species and the consortia they form are completely
different.
You'll have to set the nitrogen cycling ecosystem up as if you had no
other tanks.

My understanding is that they are different, and cannot be

No, they are not interchangable.
Either cycle the old fashioned way, or get the saltwater version of
Bio-Spira.
