One has corals, one dosen't. It really is as simple as that. Smile

Having corals in a tank implies a lot: very good water quality, better
lighting, only live rock and DSB/plenum for filtration, few reef safe
fish, reef safe inverts only. FOWLR gives you the benefit of an easy
to care for system useing "reef" techniques: i.e. live rock as the
primary, or only filtration, deep sand beds (DSB), snails and hermit
crabs depending on the fish. FOWLR doesn't have corals, so it dosen't
need intense lighting, and can safely use
cannister/undergravel/wet-dry filters.

Silly question: is FOWLER an acronym for something?
