I have the opportunity to run a 175watt MH that comes with a 8800K
bulb. If I supplement this with some VHO Actinic will this work for my
reef tank?

They also have a 5500K bulb for the MH setup.. either one of these
good for reef? It seems I have read the 5500K are not good...

anything over 5000K will grow corals
weather or not you can stand to look at your yellow tank is another thing.
I would try the 8800K and see how it goes.
