Polarised Glass

It is possible to polarise the aquarium glass with one polarity and the room
lights with the opposite? Perhaps it is a stupid question, as the reflected
light off the walls etc won't stay the same polarity. This would be
significantly less than the direct light though.

The value of doing this, would be the ability of leaving the room lights on
all night, without affecting the fish inside the tank.

without replacing your room lights with lasers, how would you go about doing
this? you can put polarizing film on the exterior of your tank but that's
only half the problem.

You used to be able to buy polarized track lighting. (it was just a
track light with a polarizing film over the lens) that might be worth
looking into.

Thanks, I appreciate the answer. At worst I was thinking of
buying polarised glass and putting it in front of the lights. The
downside is a waste of power though. The track lighting sounds
like a good start. I'll check it out.

A long time ago a similar though was proposed for car lights. The
car lights were one polarity and the windscreen another. This
filtered out oncoming headlights to a degree. There are good
safety reasons why this idea was never put into practice, but for
a stationary fishtank I though it might work.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
