I set up a 40 gallon tank to replace my 75 "I moved and did not have the
room for my 75 anymore". I ran my ro/di water and put it into the 40 gal
tank and added my salt. salinity was 53 and ph was 8.1 for a week. I added
sand and Fiji live rock from my 75 and a few hours later my ph dropped to
7.5. I have tried water changes and Kent marine buffer and have not had any
luck keeping my ph in the correct range. When I added the buffer it will
rise to 8 or 8.2 for a short time and then slowly lower back to around 7.6
or 7.7. I cannot think of anything else to try and was wondering if anyone
here might have some ideas or suggestions.

Thanks
Travis

If the live rock is not cured then it will cause your ph to drop. All
that amonia is acidic.

Salinity was really 53?! You must be shooting for a Dead Sea biotope.
