The ones I have are from 4 to 6 years of age..................and
thats by going on when I got them and how long I have had them. No
clue how old they were initially when I bought them.

My experience has been around 5 years with these catfish, so I think
you are doing about normal.

This site may be of some help to you as well: http://www.fishlore.com/profiles_otocinclus.htm

Mine last around 3 years but there is no way to know their age when you buy
them. The last ones I bought I asked for the smallest ones hoping they were
the youngest.

Wow! You must have some healthy algae in your tank and excellent water
conditions. Smile

hello everybody!

it's been a long time...
I used to post here a lot some 4 years ago!

What's the expected life-span of the Otocinclus? I remember reading it
was 2.5 years; today, google'ing around I read someone mention 3 to 10
years!!!

The reason I ask is because I have one single Oto left from a batch of
7 I bought on 10/oct/2002, so the little guy is more than 5 years old!
Is this normal?

I plan to get him some mates shortly; I must admit I'm afraid to scare
him (he got used to living alone during all those years);

[]s & TIA,

...........but make sure yu get
the green sheets not the red or brown.........$1.00 will get you a
dozen or so 8 x 11 inch sheets in a pack that will last quite a long
time

I remember you mentioning this some time back. So far my little guys have
had enough algae without extras.
