Hi all,
My new oscars have been enjoying their new home in a 120 gallon however
tonight I noticed that my albino Oscar has what looks like a fungus growing
on his (or her) eye. Any ideas of what this is and how I can treat it?
Note: all three oscars are approx 3 - 5 inches.
thanks in advance
James

Have you been doing consistant water changes.. Is there a small open sore
??? I found my Oscars are very suceptable to diesease in "dirty" water..
Mine fellows live with koi and goldfish and I am constantly monitoring the
water due to the suceptablility of Oscars getting sick.. Also, if you are
intrested James, I live in Southern California and I need a home for my
three Oscars, two common tigers ( Flower and Ivy) and my Black Oscar ( Black
Oleander).

I do water changes when I notice a buildup of decaying matter in the bottom
of the tank. About every other week. I havent' noticed a sore. Im sorry
abuot your need to be rid of your oscars unfortunately I live in NC and
don't really have anymore room for more oscars. sorry but thanks for your

Hey Jim, I stick to doing a 10% water change weekly with my Oscars. They
are a messy fish and create a lot of matter on the bottom of the tank. When
I do a water change for my fellows I vacuum the bottom to remove as much
debris as possible... You might try adding a bit of aquarium salt, as this
may help "fix" the problem.. And thank you for your concern for my
fellows...

hey fellas just my two cents, but try some aquarium salt, and maybe give it
a shot of melafix, that stuff's always worked when i've had the occasional
fungus. good luck
