New to Fishyness

Today in a mad fit of fishyness I bought an aquarium - I went to my local
garden centre with my family and found myself wandering around looking at
fish and tanks etc etc (we were there supposedly there to buy a shrub or
some such - my wifes idea - still got the plant) anyway we bought an Aq3 48
ltr thing with all the basic kit. I feel like a big kid again. I used to
keep fish when I was a youngster - ohhh 16yrs ago. Anyway, I'm trying the
whole 'get yer tank in gear routine.' So I stumbled across this newsgroup
and thought I'd see if I could get any tips or advice etc etc. Whatever you
do don't ... etc etc etc...

ok first fire up google
learn about how to cycle your tank
always wash filter sponge in a bucket of water drawn from the aquarium.
NEVER UNDER THE TAP.
once tank cycled feed fish about size of their eye daily.
Remove 25% of the aquariums water each week and replace with new water that
you have added de-chlorinator drops to.
Do not remove fish while partial water changing.
If you can remove that 25% with a gravel vaccum all the better.
