Hi, I've been lurking about for the past week or so and wanted to make
my presence known. I do have a new tank, 29 gal. So far there are no
problems just letting the cycle take it's place. I am new to
aquariums and will probably be picking your minds from time to time
with problems or questions.
Have a great weekend.

Hi Michelle. Welcome! What kind of fish are you planning for this tank?
Just curious. I have a 29 gallon too.

I'm starting with a community tank with some zebra danios, black
skirts, and tetras and a cory. Just a few of each really. Someday,
I'd like to put an angel or two in there. I have a couple of friends
who have basicly the same community and say their angels get along
great in there.
Thanks for the welcome!!

I had 2 in there, but one died the next morning. I took it back and
decided not to get another fish from there (pet depot) but would go
back to the place that I trust for healthy fish. I'll be going
friday.
Do you have any experience with angels? I've read that they are only
aggressive during spawning and maybe a little at mealtime, but at the
same time, I've heard of angels getting along great with other
community fish, tetras included. It is all quite confusing being new
to this. Any and all advice is welcomed.

Thanks. My family thinks I'm obsessed now. Its all about the fish.
I'm really wishing I had gotten the 55 gallon now. I thought it would
be too much at the time. Now... I want it bad... but no place for
it right now. Give me some time and I'll have them all around the
house!!!

If you go the cory route please put more than one in - they are social
fish and like their own kind...
Watch mixing Angels and tetras....

Sorry, no Angel experience but a lot on this newsgroup do...my cichlids
are some of the "bad boys" - Mbunas....a Ram who is supposed to be calm
but can be mean....I don't know why (no rational reason) but I just
steer clear of them....they can eat smaller tetras - work on the basis
if it fits in the mouth it will...some tetras might nip an angel....
It is such a bummer when you buy multiple fish to have the companions
die...but try and get at least one cory mate for you fish - the more the
merrier and they are fun to watch - I have 4 Julli cories that hold
"meetings" at the front of the tank
Good luck and you are in the right place for good advice....

Oh dear...that is so, so dangerous...currently have 3 in the kitchen -
2x5galls and 1 15 gall...a 47.5 gall full of Mbunas in the office
space...a dinky 7.5 hex in the living room...a 47.5 gall in the
"conservatory" due for decomission - he,he (that's what they thin)...a
136 gall in the conservatory as a replacement tank...oh and my middle
child has a 30 gall in his bedroom...
Believe me you will find the wall space or work surface...you have been
warned...it is a sickness...we cannot resist...but you have come to the
right place for support with your addiction....my family gave up on me
around 12 months ago - rolling eyeballs is what I get now....
Just accept your fate and order that 55 gall (when noone else is looking
of course)...then on the other hand resist....but remember an addict
will always encourage new members to the faith...
