even without seeing my Stomatella varia...You were right! After you gave me
its name I did a quick Yahoo! search and went through the first dozen
results. But I have to tell you the strange thing it did a couple of weeks
ago.

It was sitting on top of a live rock, that was horizontally level, and then
its body slowly started going straight up. This thing was soon fully
extended almost a whole inch and then it started spewing thousands of what
looked like little white balls, maybe they were eggs. It did this for about
five minutes before shrinking back down and disappearing back into the
rocks. Has anyone ever seen this behavior before?

Thanks Marc, and thanks to everyone who answered my post.

I've not seen my Stomatella do that, but I've watch bristle worms do it, and
snails. Crazy stuff!

Just makes you want to change the water a little more, after that.

Oh...Is that what it was doing?

That does it. I'm not swimming in my reef tank anymore.

awww.. sometimes it's best to just enlighten and *then* leave well enough
alone. Can't you sometimes almost see the little lightbulbs going full on
from the dim setting? LOL
