I would like to purchase a canister filter to replace my Emperor 400 (I
like the filter, but it's too noisy.).

Does anyone have experience with the Magnum 350 Pro and/or the Fluval
405?

I hear pros and cons for both.
I have a 55g freshwater tank.

Noise is always a problem.

We have our aquarium in the living room and a hole through the wall to
a utility room where the filter is.

I used to have a Magnum and it was "plenty noisy".

I now have a Fluval which is relativly quiet ...

I would recommend the fluval as maintenance is a bit easier. Also, with a 55G
tank, you may want to check out the fluval 305 rather than the 405; save some
money and power consumption.
