I have an oranda who is healthy but likes to sit behind the trees in
his tank once feeding and gravel digging time is over.

Are fancy fish this way inclined? I have had several fancy fish do
this.

He always gets up when meal times approches and he will have a swim
here and there.

My Ryukin likes his quite time. When I go over to the tank he is often
behind a rock, but he comes out and acts friendly once he sees me. He used
to be constantly pecking at the gravel. I think he scours the tank of his
poop, because I don't see it on the bottom anymore. That's one hungry fish.
Lazy? I don't think so.

no.. I have been down at Jo Ann's and they are always booking around looking for
stuff until the lights go out. sitting is the first indication of something wrong
with the water conditions. what are your water quality parameters, ammonia, nitrites,
nitrates and pH? Ingrid
