Here's what I've done that works real good:
At to top of the screen click on Tools, options,
display, tags, add, clean list, click on the box to
the right, and tag it black, ok, add, trash list,
click on the box to the right, and tag it pale
green, ok, ok.
While viewing rec.aquaria.marine.reefs, click on
Tools, Message Filters, Make sure it says, filters
for rec.aquaria.marine.reefs. Click new, create
filter name "clean list", match any of the
following, from, contains. Add a regular user, then
click "+", and do it again with the other regular
users. Then perform these actions, Tag message,
Clean list, ok. Click new, create filter name "trash
list", match all of the following, perform these
actions, tag message, trash list, ok, then close window.
And I also created a troll list.

Wayne,
OK think I have the idea...is there a way to run it on past messages, or
will it only work on future messages that come in?

It lets you do that with e-mail, but for some
reason, not with newsgroups.

First download and burn a DVD for linux, then install linux which will,
with a single application, bring the virus load of your computer down to
zero, then install thunderbird. After getting thunderbird setup with
your news server, From the menu, use tools, message filters.
Sorry, I couldn't resist. |

But I hope you know why there are not many viruses for linux...
Not that the system does not allow it - it is simply not popular
and virus does not have enough host bodies to be pandemic
p.s. How can you bring the number of viruses to zero if this is zero already? |

To block with LookOut! express, look for message
filter settings.

Wayne's right - it won't work on messages you've already downloaded.

When you add people to your lists, be very specific about your info. Given the
situation we're seeing right now, you wouldn't want to add "KurtG" to a killfile
or clean list; you would want to get more specific on the address.
One thing I think is a defect in T-bird is that there is no way to set up a
killfile based on the path. It would be great if we could block stuff from a
particular computer without depending on stuff the troll enters.

Yea, you can't do as much on Tbird with newsgroups,
as you can with e-mail. I don't know why they give
all the same options for newsgroups that they give
for e-mail.
